Bodybuilding is not just about going to the gym and lifting heavy weights. Sure, it’s a big part of it but you won’t gain as much muscles if you won’t give your body its needed food. Contrary to what others believe, when you are planning on building muscles you must eat.
Don’t go on a diet because you’re afraid to gain fat weight. You won’t gain fat weight as long as you are working out heavily and focusing on body building. As long as you are eating the right foods then you won’t be having a problem.

With body building, it is very important that you eat a lot. This means you must eat several times a day but don’t eat as much as you can during meals. Frequent feeding is key in order to turn those calories into muscles and not fat. It’s important that you stock up on calories because it’s essential to feed the needed calories by your muscles for it to grow big.
However, this doesn’t mean that you should sit on your couch all day and eat potato chips. You still need to know what foods to eat and what to avoid. Throw away those junk foods. They give you empty calories and that’s what will build fat instead. Protein is very important on your diet.
You can eat poultry, pork, beef or fish. Protein has amino acids that are essential for building muscles. Muscles need to repair itself too and that’s how they grow bigger and bigger and protein’s amino acids are also helping it achieve this.
For bodybuilding, you would need a gram of protein per pound of your weight. If you consume less protein while continuing your intense training, you won’t be building huge muscles. You can drink protein shakes as they are packed with protein. Many muscle builders drink protein drinks regularly.

Avoid carbohydrates. Carbs will make you fat. Plain and simple. If you consume more carbohydrates then you’re going to get high blood sugar levels and fat will start to buildup. It’s a big no-no for muscle building. If you want to have that 6-pack abs, stay away from carbohydrates!
Don’t avoid fat. You must consume enough dietary fats as this is what’s responsible for increasing the strength of your muscles. Don’t cut dietary fat altogether from your diet as this wouldn’t be beneficial. But this doesn’t mean you should splurge on a high-fat meal though.
Water is great and you probably won’t be having a bit of a hard time taking in more water. In fact, when you’re on a hard training at the gym you would be drinking more water than you normally could handle. This is important to keep the muscles hydrated. Remember, dehydrated muscles are sad muscles.
If you want to build muscles then water is an important factor for that. It detoxifies the body and it helps the muscles to repair itself quicker than when it’s not getting enough water. Water should not be substituted with soda. Drinking too much soda won’t be good for you when following a bodybuilding program.
